Biography

Ana Victoria Philliber attended the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Medicine and the University of Oklahoma College of Education to receive her Masters in Academic Leadership and Academic Curriculum: Biomedical Education. Ana Victoria is also a Biology-Chemistry graduate of SNU.

Her degree and passion are in anatomical education. Her area of focus within biology are the four main branches of anatomy: histology, gross anatomy, embryology, and neuroanatomy. Prof. Philliber’s training has been in human cadaveric dissection instruction. Some of her areas of interest include preparation of histological slides, anatomical education and curriculum, and neuronal mapping.

Prof. Philliber teaches Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Physician Associate Medical Anatomy- Cadaveric Lab. She taught cadaveric dissection to undergraduates at the University of Oklahoma for a few years and has experience in the specific setting of the cadaver lab from her studies and previous teaching assistantships.

Prof. Philliber’s hope for the cadaver lab is that it will be an environment where students can see the goodness of creation in the physicality of the human body. God made everything and he made it all good. She believes the study of the human body in Human Anatomy brings one closer to God through admiration in the perfection of his work. It reminds one of their finiteness on this world and shines on the hope that we have as Christians: everlasting life glorifying our Creator!

Ana Victoria met her spouse, Derek, at SNU. Together they form a family along their rescued cat, Teethers. They enjoy family walks, trips to the beach, and monthly philharmonic concerts. One of their lifegoals is visiting the Seven Wonders of the World together, and they have completed 2 out of 7 thus far (Teethers stayed home)!
